Aaron Ramsey has been a crucial player at the Emirates, and it looks as though he has played his last game for the club. The free agent will be heading to Juventus in the summer, and an injury has ended his last season with Arsenal prematurely. The Welshman is beloved by Gunners, and he took to social media to express gratitude.
“It saddens me to say that the game against Napoli was my last game in an Arsenal shirt,” he wrote in his Instagram post. “Unfortunately it left me with an injury that rules me out of the remaining games. I am really disappointed not to play until the end and give everything for the club while I am still an Arsenal player.”
Ramsey was in Arsenal for more than a decade
Ramsey has been at Arsenal for more than a decade now. Arsene Wenger signed him from Cardiff City in 2008, and he has grown immensely to become the player he is now. He has made 369 appearances for the club in total, scoring 64 goals along the way.
“Unfortunately, it’s out of my hands but I wanted to say thank you to the fans for your support,” he said. “It has been a journey, on and off the field, and so much has happened in 11 years. I was a spotty young kid coming in and I’m leaving a man, married, father of three boys and full of pride and good memories that I will treasure.”
Arsenal will host Brighton on Saturday, and it will be their final home match of the season. The occasion will be undoubtedly an emotional one for Ramsey, even if he won’t play. He said: “It will be emotional this weekend – my last game at home. I Look forward to seeing you there and thank you all again from the bottom of my heart for everything.”

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has coached him for just a season, but he was full of praise for the midfielder. “For me, it was a good experience to work with every player and with him especially, because he can transmit his energy and he showed me his heart is red with Arsenal,” Emery said. “I said to him one month ago that I wanted to do something important in his last matches with us at the moment – maybe he can come back in the future.”
Ramsey First Match was in 2008
Ramsey joined Arsenal as a teenager in 2008, and he is now the longest-serving player in the squad. He has won three FA Cup titles during his time in north London. Ramsey scored the winner in the 2017 final against Chelsea. He scored in the 2014 final as well.
Ramsey’s last game in an Arsenal shirt will be the second leg of the Europa League quarter-final with Napoli. he injured his hamstring in that game, and that injury will take time to heal. Juventus will be waiting for him on 1st July when he will officially join the Italian champions. But he will be remembered by Arsenal fans, and by Premier League fans in general.
